Museum of the Palestinian People Art and Culture Festival

Palestine has shifted the world’s order in ways our elders never could have imagined. We are nearly three years into the newest phase of the genocide against our people in Gaza, and 78 years post Nakba. As Palestinians, we know the Nakba didn’t end in 1948: it has continued every single day since. And we know that every people’s struggle for liberation is tied to our own. This past year has only made that clearer.
This year, MPP is hosting our third annual Museum of the Palestinian People Art and Culture Festival. Over three days, we’ll welcome people from across the country to the nation’s capital to celebrate and honor Palestinian history, art, culture, and community. The theme of this year’s event is simple:
Here Eternally هنا إلى الأبد
Rooted in Resistance متجذر في المقاومة
We’re still here as artists, painters, writers, athletes, chefs. And we will always be here, as Palestinians, generation after generation.
The Suleiman Al- Obeid Legacy Classic Tournament is organized in honor of Suleiman Al-Obeid, known as the “Pelé of Palestinian Football”, who played 24 international matches for the Palestinian national team and scored over 100 goals in his career. Al-Obeid was killed in Gaza while waiting for aid in August of 2025, nearly one year since his death, this tournament is intended to bring together community from across the East Coast (and DMV, locally) to honor the legacy of not just Al-Obeid but all Palestinian athletes who can no longer play. This Tournament is a celebration of Palestinian culture, community, and the enduring spirit of the international game of soccer. In conjunction with the tournament, MPP will be hosting a new art exhibit highlighting Palestinian athletes while zooming in on Al-Obeid’s career & the solidarity Palestine receives on all athletic world stages.
