The fall exhibition, Art as Resistance: testimonies of sumud, highlights the incredible work of Mohammed Sabaaneh, a Palestinian artist and political cartoonist who deploys the technique of linocuts with black ink to depict scenes and images of people, experiences and stories in Palestine and especially Gaza since October 7, 2023.
In this exhibition, Mohammad Sabaaneh presents a powerful collection of works from his 2017 work White and Black and new pieces created in response to the events of 2023, which draw from the daily life of Palestinians, placing their lived experiences at the forefront of the global conversation on justice, resistance, and identity.
Through his art, Sabaaneh captures scenes that are both profoundly ordinary and deeply significant, reflecting the struggles, resilience, and humanity of Palestinians living under occupation. The sumud, or steadfastness, of the Palestinian people is embedded throughout the collection of work.
