Dana Barqawi is joining us all the way from Jordan to share about her collection for our premier Art of Palestinian Women exhibition, entitled “A Land without a People.”
Dana’s collection featured in Art of Palestinian Women is inspired by the widely cited rhetoric “a land without a people for a people without a land.” The artworks portray and focus on the people of the claimed land without a people.
Dana will share more with us about her artwork and where she draws her inspiration from during this special Artist Talk.
For Dana, the act of artistic creation is inseparable from notions of the real world. In times where socio-political changes compose an inherent part of our reality, she chooses to reflect the context within her work and consequently creates politically and socially engaged art. the centre of her work inspires cultural and socio-political affirmation and delivers a sense of openness that allows to incorporate the viewer as an active participant.
