Do you want to get some hands-on museum experience in Washington, DC? The Museum of the Palestinian People is looking for Social Media & Marketing intern to join our team! The intern will work directly with the Museum Director, board members and other advisors. Museum of the Palestinian People began as the Nakba Museum Project of Memory and Hope, a series of travelling exhibits presented throughout the United States.

The Museum Of the Palestinian People presents Palestinian history, culture and stories to a national and international audience through art, multimedia,social media, personal narratives, testimonials and interpretive forms of storytelling. Museum visitors will explore the creativity, culture, history, forced exile and resilience of the Palestinian people. The Museum will be a safe space for conversation, reflection and education.

We are seeking individuals who have the energy to contribute at an extraordinary level in a “startup”, entrepreneurial environment, are passionate about social justice and are committed to the success of the museum.

The intern will primarily be engaged in:

Communications and Social Media

Under the close supervision with the Museum director, the intern will assist with writing, drafting, and reviewing our social media contents. The intern may also be asked to conduct research on historic Palestine, its villages and society by members of the Museum Team.

Outreach and Event Planning

Working with the Museum director, the intern will devise and implement strategies on with working with local communities, art institutions, and organizations to build support and cooperative relationships. The intern will also gain some hands-on experience with event coordination, including logistical planning and event set up.


The intern would work directly with the Museum Team on organizing and planning fundraising events and campaigns, as well as researching, identifying and connecting with potential donors and supporters of the Museum.


The intern will be responsible of handling marketing materials and website maintenance as well as conduct some basic marketing research and analysis.


  • Current graduate student, or a recent graduate
  • Availability for a minimum of 20 hours per week for the duration of 4- 6 months
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Social Media)
  • A professional and friendly demeanor; punctual, responsible
  • Ability to work on a team and take direction
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working or studying in the region (preferred) but not required
  • Possess marketing experience (preferred)
  • Familiar with image and video editing software (i.e Photoshop, Windows Video Maker, iMovie..etc)
  • Familiar with WordPress and graphic design is a plus
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn and engage
