SUMMARY:Painting Workshop— Painting Memory\, Ritual\, and Palestine w/ Sarah Alsamarai
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on painting workshop exploring Palestine\, memory\, identity\, and diaspora through still life! \nWorking with symbolic objects that carry stories of home\, ritual\, and inheritance\, participants will reflect on the ways everyday things can hold the memory of family\, place\, and belonging. \nLed by artist Sarah Alsamarai\, the workshop will invite participants to develop a personal symbol—an object or image connected to their own history and experience—and transform it into a painted composition. In Palestinian and diasporic life\, objects such as olives\, coffee vessels\, pomegranates\, and olive branches can carry what is not always easily said: memory\, loss\, continuity\, care\, and attachment to homeland. Through guided prompts\, sketching\, and painting exercises\, participants will create a piece that reflects both personal memory and broader cultural narrative. \nNo prior painting experience is needed. All materials will be provided. \nSpots are limited–get your tickets here!

SUMMARY:Rooted in Resistance\, Here Eternally: Saturday Festival
DESCRIPTION:Palestine has shifted the world’s order in ways our elders never could have imagined. We are nearly three years into the newest phase of the genocide against our people in Gaza\, and 78 years post Nakba. As Palestinians\, we know the Nakba didn’t end in 1948: it has continued every single day since. And we know that every people’s struggle for liberation is tied to our own. This past year has only made that clearer. \nThis year\, MPP is hosting our third annual Museum of the Palestinian People Art and Culture Festival. Over three days\, we’ll welcome people from across the country to the nation’s capital to celebrate and honor Palestinian history\, art\, culture\, and community. The theme of this year’s event is simple: \nHere Eternally هنا إلى الأبد \nRooted in Resistance متجذر في المقاومة \nWe’re still here as artists\, painters\, writers\, athletes\, chefs. And we will always be here\, as Palestinians\, generation after generation. \nBook your Tickets
