Why We Record

in collaboration with:

“Why We Record: Defying Fragmentation and Erasure in Palestine” is a collection of visuals, photos, and excerpts from published stories on the themes of fragmentation, displacement, return, and the future.

D.C.'s first Palestinian Museum

The Museum of the Palestinian People (MPP) is dedicated to documenting, preserving and presenting the history, heritage and traditions of the Palestinian people to the public through exhibitions, educational programming, and cultural initiatives.

MPP is building a world-class cultural institution in the heart of Washington, DC that preserves Palestinian heritage, elevates diverse Palestinian voices, and serves as a cultural embassy for future generations. We aim to be a landmark museum that deepens understanding, fosters dialogue, and strengthens global appreciation for Palestine.

“I was amazed by the abundance of museums, memorials, and monuments in Washington, D.C. Many immigrant communities have established institutions to tell their stories, but I couldn't find a space that shared our story as Palestinians. That’s when I began to explore the idea and question what it would take to create one.”
